Continuing on the running theme...

Today for the first time ever I went on a treadmill. It was really weird. WEIRD.

weird how?

On a treadmill IT does the moving. On a road YOU do the moving. Run outside. But take a gun.

(Oh ... poof! I see now. Apols.)

For weird read wired; my experience of the treadmill was in King's College Hospital, London, wired up [thankfully with body hair shaved off the bits where they attached the electrodes, reminding me of old Goon Show joke: "Do you want this to smoke, Neddy? Or this? Or this?..Come on, we have to have somewhere to attach the electrodes.'] I got through the 12 minutes or more, pechin' an' pantin', but it wis a sair fecht.

The guy told me that your average runner would do about 10mph or so when using the treadmill for the first time. I got to 7 before I decided it was too fast! I like to ease myself into these things I think.

The guy was an idiot - 10K an hour is the average for beginners (or folk like me who never get any faster...)- that's about 6.5mph. Were his knuckles scraping the ground?
